Conservation Assistant, National Heritage Conservation Commission. Obino Simwaba is a heritage conservation professional with over 20 years of experience and expertise in the field of conservation and management of natural and cultural heritage. He works for National Heritage Conservation Commission, a statutory body mandated with the responsibility of conserving and managing Zambia's natural and cultural heritage with 19 years of working in the conservation department at the Mosi-Oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls World Heritage Site. He has undertaken extensive conservation initiatives, documetation and researches related to the flora and fauna of the Mosi-Oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls World Heritage Site and surrounding environment, with some research works unpublished and others awaiting publication. Academically, he attended training in conservation, heritage interpretation and presentation, monitoring and evaluation, and also did the African Regional Course on Promoting People-Centred Approaches to conservation of Nature and Culture (PNC18) with ICCROM. Currently, he is based at the Railway Museum National Monument where he he continues to contribute to heritage conservation broadening his scope in industrial and historical heritage preservation, but he is actively involved in conservation programs and stakeholders engagements and participation at the Mosi-Oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls World Heritage Site through the Joint Site Management Committee and the implementation of the Joint Integrated Management Plan (JIMP) between the two state parties of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Furthermore, he pioneered the formation of the heritage conservation club involving young learners at a local school near the World Heritage Site to raise awareness on heritage conservation and protection, community engagements and climate change.
