I'm excited to join the Preserving Legacies because I want to contribute to safeguarding the Mosi-Oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls World Heritage Site from the adverse effects of climate change related hazards. The site is already experiencing significant climate change related hazards posing serious threats to the outstanding universal values, physical attributes and long-term sustainability of the World Heritage Property. The Preserving Legacies project will help the site adapt to climate-related threats through climate modelling, climate risk assessment, adaptation actions, and strengthen the scientific understanding of climate change hazards. It will be an avenue for me to learn from other heritage sites facing similar climate change related threats, chance for collaborative networks, capacity building and knowledge exchange. Furthermore, it will strengthen the capacities of the World Heritage Property on addressing climate change related hazards and broaden community engagements approaches using traditional knowledge systems for adaptation.
